Greetings EPIC members.
 
The EPiC sports committee met to discuss 2024 activities and set a tentative tournament schedule for the year ahead. We agreed to hold five tournaments as follows:
 
       
            Saturday, June 22 – Sunday June 23     Club Championship (select doubles)
           
            Saturday, August 3                                     Shooting Contest
            Saturday October 5                                   6 Boule Open
 
All of the above tournaments with the exception of the downtown demonstration tournament are to be held at Striker Park.
 
In addition, we will invite club members, beginning on or about February 3, to participate in an ongoing, in-house doubles “round-robin/panache hybrid” (my characterization)  where a group of experienced players are randomly paired with participating less experienced players (randomly changing each play day) to compete in doubles format on designated (regular club) dates over the course of the next few months.       Details of the format are in development but the idea is to introduce members to some low key competition and encourage participation.
 
The demonstration tournament on July 7 is to be played at the Downtown Saturday Market location as an introduction to and promotion of pétanque to a larger public as well as a club recruitment vehicle.
 
Please keep in mind that these dates and events are tentative and subject to change. We will keep you posted on developments.
